Susan Marie Tabush began painting as a hobby and entertainment in 1990 with the Sumi-e technique; attracted to the soft and elegant traces of this oriental painting genre and always with the same enthusiasm and spirit of learning more techniques, she started painting outdoors with watercolors. Since then, Susan has taken different drawing and painting classes with several Guatemalan and foreign artists. María del Carmen Contreras of Luján, Juan José Rodríguez, Alfredo Guzmán Schwartz, of Guatemala and Timothy Clark, Ning Yeh, Henry Li of California became her most valuable guides and inspiration.
Plein air watercolor-painting is one of Susan's favorite pastimes and what she invests most of her time during her trips to the majestic Lake Atitlán. Susan says: "It is a challenge to capture the changing light of a place during one specific moment ... it is a feeling that is captured".
